I’ve recently started using Google News on a regular basis, and one of my “alert” categories is genealogy. An article came up on today’s list called “What does weather have to do with genealogy?” Weather intrigues me, and genealogy obsesses me, so I had to click on the link. It’s an interesting article on the “Little Ice Age,” which touches on the effects of lower temperatures on human lives, migration, and settlement. It struck a chord with me, because I’ve wondered how my ancestors in northern Alabama were affected by the New Madrid earthquake in the early 1800s. Get the whole story
